            <lido:descriptiveNoteValue>Die Münzstätte Sardes, wo diese Münze geprägt wurde, war die erste und bedeutendste Münzstätte von Alexander in Kleinasien. Die Zahl der dort im 4. Quartal des 4. Jh. v. Chr. verwandten Vs.-Stempel summiert sich auf 242 bei den Drachmen, auf 59 bei den Goldstateren und auf 48 bei den Tetradrachmen. Die Prägung der Drachmen war in den auf die Jahre bis 316/15 v. Chr. besonders hoch. Das wird unterschiedlich interpretiert: die Arbeitsteilung der Münzprägung im makedonischen Reich oder die Auszahlung des Soldes nach dem Tod von Alexander oder die anschließenden Kämpfe unter den Diadochen oder die  Monetarisierung in den griechischen Städten Kleinasiens.
